Back Pain Relief With A Vineland Chiropractic Manipulation
Besides help with back pain,a Vineland Chiropractor can also help with neck pain, middle and upper back pain and even headaches.
Low back pain has always been a common health issue, but it is becoming seemingly much more common and it seems there are more and more “quick fixes” and unproven remedies out there. It seems like it is getting harder and harder for the average American to figure out who to believe when it comes to low back pain remedies. Let’s take a look at the difference between two different methods of treating low back pain: chiropractic therapy and conventional treatments.
Okay we are here today with Sandy. Sandy has a little bit of low back and mid back discomfort. Nothing too bad. We are going to go with an overall thoracic to lumbar Chiropractic adjustment to help her function and feel better. First thing we are doing is using an instrument just to kind of loosen up the joint, break up some scar tissue and allow some better range of motion. It makes the manipulation go a little easier. Next we are going to use a massager to loosen the muscles up to allow the adjustment to go easier to hold a little longer, brings a little blood flow to the surface and makes the patient feel just a little better. Now we are going to do a lumbar side posture adjustment. So lay on your side and face me. I am going to kind of put you where I need you. Good, okay the other side. Alright. Come on up and we will sit on the edge of the table. The next is a thoracic adjustment. I am just going to relieve a little tension and pressure in this mid back. Good that was it. Alright guys if you have any questions just message me and we can talk about it. Have a great day.
Chronic Low Back Pain:
Which Treatment Is More Effective?
For patients with chronic low back pain (cLBP), treatment guidelines recommend a non-surgical approach as the FIRST-LINE treatment. Ideally, the goal would be to avoid an initial surgery unless it’s absolutely indicated. That means, unless there is loss of bowel or bladder control or retention (which represents a medical emergency) or if there is progressive neurological motor and sensory loss, one can safely avoid surgery and conservatively manage the condition.
We are here with the lovely Mrs Brooks. She may be in too much pain to treat. Mrs Brooks is a unique patient where we can not lay her down to adjust her because she gets quite a bit of neck, shoulder and low back pain. But just because we can’t lay her on her stomach because it increases her pain doesn’t mean we can’t treat her. So we are going to do some manual therapy on her neck and shoulders. We are going to use a couple instruments just to try to regain mobility, increase her function and to make her feel a little better. Alright so I want you to look up and down for me 5 times. What I am doing is putting pressure on her trapezius muscles. She is going through a range of motion and it is stretching those muscles out. That doesn’t hurt too bad does it? Okay we are going to turn your head and go up and down. Down and up just like that 5 times. one, two, three, four, five. Okay let’s do this side 5 times. One, two,up and down a little more, there you go, three, four, one more, five. Alright so now we take this hand and come all the way up as best you can 5 times. One, two, three, four, five. So what we are doing is trying to loosen up these trapezius muscles, all of her back and shoulder muscles. Because I feel it. You feel it all through don’t you? Yeah. And that will make her neck move better. All the way up 5 times. One, two, three, four, five. Good. Okay touch your belly and your back for me 5 times. One, two, three, four, five. Do you feel that all the way to your mid back? I feel it, it don’t hurt as bad as the other way. One, chin up for me, two, three, four, five. Front, arm straight. Touch your knee and straighten your arm out. One, two, three, four, five. Now we are going to touch your stomach and touch your back. One, two, three, four, five. I feel that but it feels good. Good type of pain right? Yeah because it helps a whole lot. next we are going to use just a vibrating instrument, some Chiropractors might know what it is. All we are going to do is vibrate these joints to try to break up any scar tissue. We are breaking up that scar tissue and loosening the joint up and allows for better range of motion and better motion, better flexibility. And it helps me sleep better. Sleep a little better too right? Mmmm Hmmm. My bed is propped up. It helps. It helps a whole lot. I actually have to wake myself up now instead of getting up at 2 o clock in the morning. You get into a deeper sleep so the Chiropractic care is helping. This is an industrial size massager. We get a lot of comments online that it looks like something you buy at Home Depot. It probably does look something like that but it works so well so we are going to use it. What we are doing is giving her mild fascial release, we are loosening the muscles. It brings blood flow to the surface of the muscles to let some nutrients go in there. It aids in the healing process. This is probably the best part of the adjustment. So the next thing we are going to do is have her seated since she can’t lay down. We are going to do some electric stim on her low back and apply some heat to help to give her some relief. If you have an questions or comments please message me and hope you enjoyed this. Talk to you soon.
Car Accident Patient Chiropractic Treatment
Miss Johnson was in a bad car accident a while ago and what we are doing today is trying to relieve some of her pain.
She is telling us she is having a bunch of tightness in her upper back and neck so we are going to try to loosen some of the muscles up, realign the joints of the spine and break up scar tissue so she can recover faster.
How is your low back? Low back is better? Alright next we are going to do a neck adjustment. But actually first we will do a upper back adjustment. She is really tight through here.
Hey guys we are here today with Mr Jones. Mr Jones comes in periodically to manage his neck and low back pain. A big golfer, a big fisherman things get out of whack. What I love about Mr Jones is he knows exactly what he needs so we will go through this whole adjusting process and if there is something that he feels he still needs he just tells me. I wish more patients were like that because it would help us get them to feel better a little more quickly. So first thing we are going to do is use an adjusting instrument. All I am trying to do is realign the vertabrae and break up some scar tissue, regain mobility in those spinal joints so the spine can function and feel a little better. We always check his leg length because leg length will be an indication that the pelvis has been dysfunctional or misaligned which can in turn make the low back feel a little off. I am using a drop table that allows me to use less pressure to realign his pelvis and lower back. I am feeling around for anything that might be tight. You are kinda tight in there. How does that feel? A little tight. Mr Jones you usually have a lot more to say about all this. I’m muffled. You are muffled today huh? Next we just use a massager, I know it looks like something you buff your car with but what we are doing is loosening up the muscles, bringing some blood to the surface. It makes the adjustment go a little easier. Now to the manipulation. Deep breath for me and out. Look up for me, here we go. Good, other side. Up and back down. Deep breath. Don’t press too hard from this position. This one bothers you? Okay. Alright lay on your side. See that is a good thing, he told me that one position bothered him a little bit so we get it done another way. Good movement there. It was a lumbar adjustment. Good. On your back. You get me sitting up with my hands. This is a cervical adjustment or a neck adjustment. Half of my patients love it and half hate it. For some it not appropriate, for others it does wonders. Mr Jones seems to move pretty easily so we are going to go through with it. Good. Okay come on up. Sit on the edge here. Okay this last one is a thoracic adjustment or anterior thoracic adjustment. Just start low and work your way up. Good. I think we got them all. Good stuff. I want to thank Mr Jones for allowing us to video this and if you have any questions message me or give us a call at the office. Have a great day.
