We have been helping accident injury cases for many years now here in our Vineland New Jersey office. We understand the process extremely well and it is my personal belief that if you have been involved in an accident, even if it isn’t your fault, you are probably better off with an accident attorney to help you through the process. Unfortunately, the process can be complex, insurance companies rarely want to pay out full compensations that should be owed to you, and also so you keep any out of pocket expenses to a minimum. Let’s take a look at a few of these factors in more detail.
Insurance Companies Really Don’t Like Paying Out Money
Let’s face it, none of us like paying out money, but the fact is, insurance companies are there for a reason. You take out insurance based on the gamble that one day you will need it. Insurance companies gamble on the point that you won’t need it.
So, with that being said, in an accident that isn’t your fault, it’s not your insurance that will be paying out. It’s the other party’s. They are liable and they want to pay out as little as possible and make the problem go away. And that’s what they will tend to do. As they know the game much better than you do, they know many tricks to get away with paying out as little as possible. If you have an accident attorney in your corner, they also know these tricks and can get much more out of them than a regular person ever could.
Those Pesky Out of Pocket Expenses
So you got rear ended. You’re in pain. Your car is in the shop being repaired. You’re having to take time off work to sort it all out and none of it is even your fault! If you don’t have an attorney working for you, guess what? You’re probably going to have to pay your doctors bills out of pocket and wait for the third party insurance company to eventually pay out. And even then it might not even be enough!
Why? Because contrary to popular opinion, the insurance company doesn’t pay the doc direct. They send you a check. Eventually.
The next point on these out of pocket expenses is a key one. If you have an attorney, they typically pay for the doctors visits as you have them, so you pay out nothing. The attorneys collect this money directly from the insurance company themselves as part of the case pay out. And you can be sure they will get the compensation desired.
You Experience Pain in More Ways than One
I touched a little on this in the previous point. Your pain points are not limited to your physical pain only. The fact you have to sort your car out. The fact you have to take time off work to organize things and to get medical treatment and so on.
Guess who should be responsible for that? Yep, the third party insurance company. If you have an attorney, you’ll likely be getting proper compensation for that too.
If you’ve been in an accident and it isn’t your fault, why should you have to suffer more than you already are? Why should you have to pay out of pocket when it wasn’t you who hit anyone? Why should you suffer? If you have an accident attorney, they will handle the extra logistics as described above. These allows you to focus on getting back to normal and out of pain. Which is exactly how it should be.
Again, this is my opinion and this is not legal advice in any way. If I were in an accident, I would be straight on the phone to an attorney for the help and services they provide. Do yourself a favor and don’t give yourself any extra headaches than need be.
